Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Serves as embassy’s focal point on disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation;
- Ensure mainstreaming of climate adaptation in the embassy’s portfolio;
- Responsible for grant management and follow up and liaison with partners;
- Provide analysis and input to the embassy’s reporting and strategic planning;
- Other tasks as decided by the Head of Mission.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in international relations, Disaster Risk Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, Political Science, Social Science, or a related field with at least five years of relevant professional experience; or
- Bachelor’s degree in the above fields with at least seven years of relevant professional experience;
- Demonstrated experience in preparedness, disaster risk reduction, and climate change adaption, and related areas relevant to project development and management, as well as thematic capacity building;
- Experience in liaison, advocacy with governmental and diplomatic officials, national and international institutions and organizations, civil society, and private sector actors;
- Experience working in an international, inter-governmental, or non-governmental organization, United Nations, or government;
- Experience in the design and implementation of projects relating to preparedness, disaster risk reduction, and climate change adaptation;
Strong analytical skills combined with the ability to effectively summarize, present, and communicate findings; - Demonstrated knowledge and expertise of international standards and classifications relevant to preparedness, disaster risk reduction, and climate change adaptation;
- Proven agent of change or willingness to foster a culture of learning and knowledge management;
Fluency in English and Portuguese.
