Job Description
Responsibilities:
- • Serves as embassy’s focal point on disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation;
• Ensure mainstreaming of climate adaptation in the embassy’s portfolio;
• Responsible for grant management and follow up and liaison with partners;
• Provide analysis and input to the embassy’s reporting and strategic planning;
• Other tasks as decided by the Head of Mission.
Requirements
- • Master’s Degree in international relations, Disaster Risk Management, Environmental Science,
Engineering, Political Science, Social Science, or a related field with at least five years of relevant
professional experience; or
• Bachelor’s degree in the above fields with at least seven years of relevant professional experience;
• Demonstrated experience in preparedness, disaster risk reduction, and climate change adaption,
and related areas relevant to project development and management, as well as thematic capacity
building;
• Experience in liaison, advocacy with governmental and diplomatic officials, national and
international institutions and organizations, civil society, and private sector actors;
• Experience working in an international, inter-governmental, or non-governmental organization,
United Nations, or government;
• Experience in the design and implementation of projects relating to preparedness, disaster risk
reduction, and climate change adaptation;
• Strong analytical skills combined with the ability to effectively summarize, present, and
communicate findings;
• Demonstrated knowledge and expertise of international standards and classifications relevant to
preparedness, disaster risk reduction, and climate change adaptation;
• Proven agent of change or willingness to foster a culture of learning and knowledge management;
• Fluency in English and Portuguese.
